French Imports of Algerian Gas Increase by 92.1%

Introduction

Algerian newspaper Al-Shorouk reported that French imports of Algerian gas increased by 92.1% in the first half of this year, roughly half the volume of gas imported by France.

Algerian Gas Becomes Most Important Energy Source in France

The Algerian newspaper, citing reports from the Energy website, explained that “Algerian gas imports to France have increased and reached 49.9% of France’s total gas imports. This makes Algerian gas the most important source of energy in France.”

Estimated Value of Imports

According to a document included in the economic message of the French Ministry of Economy and Finance, which was reviewed by the Energy website, “the amount is estimated at $1.6 billion.”

Increase in Algerian Hydrocarbon Exports

The Energy website also states that “Algerian hydrocarbon exports to France increased significantly in the first half of this year, reaching an estimated growth of 35.1% compared to the same period last year.”

Increase in Imports of Algerian Petroleum Products

French imports of Algerian petroleum products also increased in the first half of this year by 9.6% compared to the same period last year.
