France..Rally against the high cost of living on Sunday in Paris

Left parties, greens and other organizations are organizing protests in Paris on Sunday against declining purchasing power, high prices and energy.

Large crowds are expected at demonstrations, organizers say.

France Info, citing an Interior Ministry source, said 30,000 demonstrators were expected to take part in protests “against the high cost of living and inaction in the fight against climate change” on Sunday afternoon in Paris.

According to a police source, between 400 and 500 ultras groups will take part in the procession.

According to a regional intelligence report, far-left activists will also take part in the protests.

This, as well as a French website, indicated that around 2,000 police and gendarmerie (including 18 mobile units) were mobilized for the occasion.

The “March against the high cost of living and climate inaction” will take place on Sunday, October 16, in Paris from 14:00, at the invitation of several parties.

Meanwhile, unions, including the CGT, have called for a strike and demonstrations on Tuesday, October 18, for wage increases that will disrupt public transport across the country.
