Data from the London Stock Exchange ICE indicates that the price of gas in Europe at the beginning of the discussion today, Wednesday, fell below $750 per thousand cubic meters for the first time since February 18, 2022.
According to the exchange, the total price decline since the beginning of the day amounted to more than 3%.
The February futures contract at the TTF Center in the Netherlands fell to $733 per 1,000 cubic meters, or EUR 67 per MWh (according to the current EUR/USD exchange rate, ICE prices are quoted in EUR per MWh).
Prices fell below $800 per thousand cubic meters on December 30 for the first time in 10 months.
Gas futures prices tended to decrease due to the agreement of the EU countries to set a price ceiling for Russian gas. Where this measure was taken in order to protect consumer households and European companies from rising prices.
