Finland continues to import LNG from Russia under a long-term contract

Russia’s trade representative in Helsinki, Anton Loginov, said that Finland continues to import liquefied natural gas from Russia, as EUR 75 million worth of gas was delivered between January and September.

“Finland will indeed continue to buy Russian LNG directly from the Russian company Novotec under a long-term contract in euros, and not through intermediaries,” Loginov said.

He added that so far there have been no changes in the currency of payment since the conclusion of the agreement.

Loginov indicated that the Finnish side is studying the possibility of refusing to purchase Russian LNG and for this purpose it has leased an American floating LNG terminal, the launch of which is scheduled for January 2023.
