On Monday, the English press reported the arrest of an international English Premier League footballer north of London on an unidentified rape charge.
And the English newspaper The Telegraph reported that the police did not name the player for legal reasons, but only disclosed his age and he was well over twenty, and also revealed his country’s participation in the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
The newspaper pointed out that the reason for his arrest is a rape allegation that happened in June last year, and he is being interrogated.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed in an official statement that “Police were informed on 4 July of the allegation of rape of a woman in her twenties, and the alleged rape occurred in June 2022.”
On July 4, a 29-year-old man was arrested at an address in Barnet on suspicion of rape and taken into custody as the investigation continues.
On June 14, former midfielder of the Russian national team Alexander Mostovoy said that the repeated cases of accusing footballers of rape are due to the fact that the girls want to take advantage of the glory of the football players and their money.
