Erdogan’s Goal for Gulf Tour: Expressed in Arabic Tweet

On Monday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan tweeted in Arabic about his goal for the Gulf tour.

Erdogan said: “We are on our way to the city of Jeddah, the first stop of our visit to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.”

He added: “I hope that these visits that we are making during a critical period will be in the interests of our bilateral relations and our regional stability… We continue our efforts in line with our goal of creating a belt of peace, stability and prosperity around Turkey, and we we also want to spread the solid foundation on which our relations with Turkey are based.” Gulf countries, on a large scale cooperation with them.

He added: “The volume of bilateral trade exchange with the Gulf countries has increased over the past two decades from $1.6 billion to about $22 billion.”

And he added: “Through the working forums that we will hold during our visits, we will look for ways to further increase this number.”

Erdogan stressed that during the visit, he will work to strengthen bilateral relations, in addition to exchanging views on topical regional issues.

The Turkish President stressed that he will strengthen Ankara’s relations with the Gulf countries, with which it has historical, fraternal and deeply rooted relations, noting that his country has recently made tangible progress with the Gulf countries.
