Erdogan: This month we will complete the construction of an onshore pipeline to transport gas from the Black Sea

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that in November this year, his country will complete the construction of an onshore gas pipeline that will transport natural gas produced at the Sakarya field in the Black Sea.

Yesterday, Wednesday, Erdogan said in a TV interview that “Turkish oil and gas pipeline company BOTAŞ will complete an onshore pipeline to connect gas to the national system this month.”

Erdogan revealed the total newly discovered reserves of natural gas in the Black Sea, stating: “With another 110 billion cubic meters of natural gas, the total reserves discovered in the Black Sea reach 650 billion cubic meters.”

In mid-June, Turkey launched the first gas pipeline offshore, through which natural gas will be transported from the Sakarya field to land.

And the Al-Sabah newspaper previously wrote that Turkey would invest about ten billion dollars in a project to extract and transport 540 billion cubic meters of gas in the Black Sea.

The total length of the offshore part of the gas pipeline from the field to the port of Filyos is 155 km, and according to plans, the first batch of gas from it will come to Turkey in 2023.

According to the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey, Fatih Donmez, the cost of gas reserves discovered in the Black Sea is $400 billion.
