Egypt. Chemical industry exports up in 9 months

The latest data showed that the chemical industry topped the list of non-oil exports to Egypt during the first nine months of this year, amounting to about $6.479 billion.

Exports of the chemical industry accounted for about 24% of total Egyptian exports from the beginning of the year to the end of September last year.

According to the Egyptian Chemical and Fertilizer Export Council’s monthly report, the export growth rate of the chemical and fertilizer industry in the first nine months of this year was about 32.2 percent compared to the same period last year, so that the value of exports increased from 4.9 billion dollars in the period from January to September 2021 to 6.479 billion dollars for the same period of the current year.

Official figures show that Egyptian non-oil exports exceeded $32 billion last year, according to previous figures from the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

And Egyptian exports were second in building materials with a growth rate of 6.25% in the first 9 months of this year, as their value rose from $4.8 billion in the same period last year to about $5.1 billion. from January to the end of September of the current year.

In contrast, the value of food industry exports to Egypt stabilized in 2021 and 2022 at $3.1 billion, ranking third on the list of non-oil exports.

The Council report revealed an improvement in the performance of non-oil exports (disaggregated across sectors) after rising from $24.3 billion between January and the end of September 2021 to over $27.5 billion in the same period this year, with growth rate of about 13.2%.
