Egypt: Cancellation of grain deal will have no impact on our country

Nasr Nomani, adviser to Egyptian Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Nomani, confirmed that the non-renewal of the grain deal would not affect Egypt as the country diversifies its sources of wheat imports.

Nomani said: “The state will not suffer from the non-renewal of the grain agreement, because it has already received the last two batches of Ukrainian wheat. The volume of the first is 35,000 tons, the second – 110,000 under the deal, and they arrived in Egypt and were unloaded. There are more deals No”.

He pointed out that Egypt’s policy is to increase wheat stocks by diversifying wheat sources and domestic production.

He stressed that Egypt is the largest importer of Russian wheat.

He added: “The Russian side is fully cooperating with Egypt in the field of exports and is playing its part in resolving all emerging problems, whether through financing or exports.”
