Egypt announces huge $11 billion project to serve Saudi Arabia

The Egyptian Cabinet has announced that Egypt is building one of the largest wind farms in the world at a cost of $11 billion.

The Egyptian Cabinet Information and Decision Support Center has published a new infographic including key information on Egypt’s construction of one of the largest wind farms in the world, according to one of the agreements concluded by Egypt, through Infinity, with Emirati-based Masdar during the COP27 climate summit.

Starting in 2024 and due to be completed in 2030, the project has a cost of US$11 billion and a production capacity of 10 gigawatts, equivalent to one fifth of all forms of renewable energy currently available in the UK. will increase Egypt’s chances of exporting more electricity to Europe, Saudi Arabia and Sudan, as well as Libya.
