Egypt Develops Arish Taba Logistics Corridor for Arab Trade Line

Egypt presented the development of the Arish Taba logistics corridor as part of its work to launch an “Arab trade” line in cooperation with Jordan and Iraq through Egyptian ports.

Details of the Project

Photos released by the Egyptian Ministry of Transport reveal the details of the project and its development as part of the implementation of the directives of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to transform Egypt into a global center for trade and logistics, as well as in the implementation of the most important logistics corridors to be created, which is the Arish logistics corridor -Taba, which runs from the Arish seaport to the land port of Taba and connects them with the Al-Arish-Taba Railway line, which is an extension of the Al-Ferdan-Bir Al-Abd-Al-Arish line passing through a heavy industrial area in central Sinai.

Railway Development

The railway line Al-Fardan – Bir Al-Abd with a length of 100 km, as well as the railway line from Baluza to East Port Said with a length of 44 km, is being reconstructed and developed. Bir-Abd-El-Arish-Taba with a total length of about 500 km is being developed and built. And the construction of the Al-Abd Al-Arish line with a length of 81 km is underway, as well as the construction of the Al-Arish Line – Al-Nahl – Al-Tamd – Taba with a length of 275 km.

Bridge Construction

And the Minister of Transport of Egypt, Kamel al-Wazir, continued the construction of a new metal bridge in the Al-Fardan area and the restoration of the existing bridge. The Al-Fardan Bridge is a 640-meter-long metal bridge. a two-part bridge that crosses the Suez Canal in the Sinai Peninsula with the aim of maximizing the development of the Sinai Peninsula, as well as increasing the speed of passenger and freight traffic between the valley and the Sinai.

Launch of Arab Trade Line

Egyptian Transport Minister Kamel al-Wazir announced the launch of an “Arab trade” line in cooperation with Jordan and Iraq through Egyptian ports.

The minister stressed that “coordination has been made with all security agencies and military forces to maximize trade and ports and help our brothers in the Gulf region, especially Jordan and Iraq, to transfer their exports to the world through Egyptian ports.”

He added that the Arab Trade Line aims to transport goods from Jordan, Iraq, and the Gulf states by land and rail to the Aqaba region.

He explained that Arab Bridge Shipping carries cargo from Jordan, Iraq, and the Gulf countries, from Aqaba to Taba and Nuweiba, using the company’s ferries owned by Egypt, Jordan, and Iraq.

He noted that the line facilitates the transfer of Jordanian and Iraqi exports to America and all European countries, announcing an agreement with partners in the CMA company to transport the hollow system on boats that come to the Port Said area.

Impact on Israel’s Rail Project

Egypt is renewing the idea of extending a new railway linking Al Arish, Taba, and East Port Said, which will help ease the transport of goods.

The project will deal a major blow to Israel’s high-speed rail project, which will link the Red Sea and the Mediterranean through the port of Eilat.

The Israeli newspaper Yediot Ahronot reported that the Israeli government’s ambitious project, included in the government coalition agreements, would cost about 25 billion shekels. The budget for the construction of the line, which should connect with the train that will pass through other countries, will be based on “international agreements”.
