Cyprus: Visa ban for Russians hurts the Russian community in the EU

Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus Cornelius Cornelio stressed that the introduction of a ban on the issuance of tourist visas to Russian citizens is detrimental to the Russian community living in the EU countries.

“There is a Russian community in Cyprus and other EU countries, and with this measure we will prevent these Russians from contacting their families and friends,” Cornelio said.

He stressed that Germany and Greece have a common position on this issue.

It is noteworthy that a large number of Russian-speaking expatriates live in Cyprus. Before the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, 25% of tourists in Cyprus were Russians.
