China re-locks one million people in Wuhan after new corona cases found

Chinese authorities have locked down almost a million people in the suburbs of Wuhan, a city in central China where the first case of infection with the Corona virus appeared.

Residents in the Jiangxi region have been ordered to stay at home for three days after four asymptomatic cases of the coronavirus were identified.

Two new cases were also discovered through contact tracing shortly after the closure order was issued.

In Wuhan, a city of 12 million people, regular tests revealed two asymptomatic cases two days ago.

China is pursuing a “zero coronavirus infection” strategy, including mass testing, strict isolation rules and closures.

Wuhan became known around the world in early 2020 as the first place where scientists discovered a new coronavirus, and as the first city to which severe restrictive measures were introduced.
