Chad.. Jihadists killed about ten soldiers

A Chadian presidential spokesman said about ten soldiers were killed on Tuesday by jihadists who attacked an army post in western Chad.

Barach Mohammed said in a statement that there were also “injured” as a result of the attack.

The attack took place “early morning” near Ngobua in the Lake Chad region, on the border between Chad, Niger, Cameroon and Nigeria, where Boko Haram and a splinter group called the Islamic State in West Africa (ISWAP) often attack armies . and civilians in four countries.

Mohammed indicated that the army unit “was sent to prepare for the establishment of a forward center on the island of Boca Tolorum, which was under attack by elements of Boko Haram.”

A spokesman said that all those killed and wounded “were military personnel.”

Two groups operate in the area of ​​Lake Chad, a vast watery and swampy area dotted with small inhabited islands.

Chadian President General Mohamed Idris Deby Itno announced ten days ago during his visit to the region that “Boko Haram no longer has the strength to attack the barracks” in the Beheira region and is now targeting “the population and its property.”
