Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov called US President Joe Biden’s visit to Saudi Arabia “useless”, adding that the American side failed to achieve any results.
Bogdanov, who also holds the position of special representative of the President of Russia in the Middle East and Africa, told the Novosti Agency: “Of course, this is the assessment of the Arabs. In general (this visit can be characterized) as useless. … The Americans failed to achieve any special results. They hoped so.”
US President Joe Biden ended his trip to the Middle East last week, saying he expects to boost oil supplies from Saudi Arabia. But local ministers still insist that political decisions will be made according to the logic of the market and within the framework of the OPEC + alliance, which includes Russia.
