Bogdanov and Iranian Ambassador in Moscow Explore Mechanism for Syria Quadripartite Meeting

Special Representative of the Russian President for Regional and African Affairs Mikhail Bogdanov discussed with Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali plans for holding a quadripartite meeting of foreign ministers on the Syrian case.

During this meeting, they discussed the latest developments in the situation related to the planning of a quadripartite meeting of foreign ministers on the Syrian case. Both sides stressed the importance of this initiative for strengthening regional stability and security and continued their efforts to bring the positions of the various sides closer together, ISNA reported.

Moscow informed Ankara of the possibility of holding a meeting of the foreign ministers of Russia, Syria, Iran and Turkey in early May and that a date was being set, while Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that Ankara would “not accept the preconditions” in the normalization process. relations with Syria, and the goal is to revive the political process.

For its part, Damascus has repeatedly called on Ankara to withdraw its forces stationed in the Syrian border area, which are conducting operations there against Kurdish formations, noting that the presence of Turkish forces is illegal.
