Bloomberg: Russia offers oil to Asian countries at big discounts

The Bloomberg newspaper, citing a Western official, reported that Russia had approached many Asian countries with a proposal to conclude long-term contracts for the supply of oil with significant discounts.

According to the official, “Russia intends to provide Asian buyers with discounts of up to 30% of the market price of oil.”

The newspaper stated that this initiative arose as a reaction to the West’s plan to set a price ceiling for Russian oil, and that in this way Russia is trying to interfere in the negotiations of the G7 members over the upcoming EU ban on fuel transportation, and according to this plan, third countries will easily be able to buy Russian oil at a lower price.

“Jakarta has already received a similar offer from Moscow,” the newspaper quoted Indonesian Tourism Minister Sandigo Ono as saying.
