Biden, Schulch, Macron and Johnson call for speeding up visit of IAEA experts to Zaporozhye plant

The US, Germany, France, and the UK have called for military restraint in the area of ​​the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and to expedite the arrival of IAEA experts at the plant.

German Cabinet spokesman Steven Hebechterit said German Chancellor Olaf Scholz had discussed the international situation with US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

According to a German official: “The heads of four states and governments agreed that support for Ukraine in defense against Russia would continue in the long term. They also discussed the situation at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, called for military restraint in the region, and an accelerated visit of IAEA experts to the site.” .

Russian President Vladimir Putin informed his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron about the danger of a catastrophe due to the bombing of the territory of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant by the Ukrainian army, and on August 19, Russia circulated a letter in the UN Security Council about Kyiv’s provocations at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

Putin and Macron stressed the importance of sending an IAEA mission to the nuclear power plant as soon as possible, which will be able to immediately assess the real situation, and the Russian side confirmed its readiness to provide the necessary assistance to the agency’s inspectors.
