Biden and bin Zayed celebrate their countries’ recent clean energy deal

US President Joe Biden and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, speak by phone to celebrate the clean energy cooperation that the two countries signed on November 1 in Abu Dhabi.

The White House said Biden thanked Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed for his role on climate issues and promised to support the United Arab Emirates in hosting the twenty-eighth session of the Conference of the Parties (COP27) in 2023.

The United States and the United Arab Emirates will collaborate in this area on a range of clean energy initiatives such as carbon and methane management, civil nuclear power, and decarbonization of industry and transportation.

The US and UAE leaders also stressed the importance of deepening the strategic relationship between the US and the UAE.

The US-UAE Clean Energy Acceleration Partnership (PACE) is helping to catalyze $100 billion in funding and other support to produce 100 gigawatts of new clean energy to accelerate the global clean energy transition.
