Authorities of Zaporozhye region invite Guterres to visit their region

Volodymyr Rogov, a member of the Main Directorate of Administration of the Zaporizhzhya Region, invited UN Secretary-General António Guterres to visit the region in order to see for himself the reluctance of its population to remain part of Ukraine.

In an interview with RIA Novosti, Rogov said: “We will be happy for the visit of the UN Secretary General, and we are ready to show how our region strives for a peaceful life, and how Zelensky’s militants are doing everything possible to prevent this. Guterres can personally verify the reluctance of the local population to remain part of Ukraine, and their attempt to return to their historical homeland, that is, to Russia.”

He added that Guterres, as part of his visit to Ukraine, could visit the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, which the Ukrainian army regularly shells.

“Although the United Nations seeks to guarantee the right of peoples to freedom and self-determination, I am afraid that Mr. Guterres will pretend not to hear us,” he continued.

Today, Thursday, Guterres is expected to attend a trilateral meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky in Lvov (western Ukraine) as part of his visit to Ukraine. Tomorrow, Friday, Guterres will visit the city of Odessa (on the Black Sea coast).
