Austin discusses with his Ukrainian counterpart the provision of new military assistance to Kyiv

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and his Ukrainian counterpart Alexei Reznikov discussed US military assistance to Kyiv.

A Pentagon statement on Monday said Austin called Ukraine’s defense secretary “to provide an update on U.S. military assistance to Ukraine.”

The statement said the two sides also discussed “a new $400 million aid package announced on July 8.”

The ministers exchanged views on the agenda of the next meeting of the Contact Group on arms supplies to Ukraine, which will be held on July 20 via the Internet.

On July 8, the Pentagon announced the 15th Military Assistance Package, which includes HIMARS rocket launchers, ammunition, and more.
