Algerian footballer refused to fly with his Turkish team

Algerian Ahmed Toba refused to travel to Tel Aviv with his Turkish team Istanbul Basaksehir to face Israeli club Maccabi Netanya in the second leg of the preliminary round of the European Football Conference.

Israeli and Algerian media have confirmed that Tuba refused to travel to Israel on Thursday night to play the match, following talk of him pulling out of the first match in Istanbul last week.

The first match in Turkey ended in a 1-1 draw between the two teams.

The Algerian defender received widespread praise from the Arab masses in return for being subjected to campaigns of incitement and abuse from Maccabi fans.

The Hebrew website One wondered if Tavba could face administrative or financial sanctions from his club, or even from the European Football Association, due to his refusal to travel to Israel.

Istanbul Basaksehir signed a contract with Tuba in early July from the Dutch team RKC Waalvik for 2 million euros.

Although Tuba, 24, holds Belgian citizenship, he chose to represent the Algerian national team to which his family belongs.

Up to this point, “Tuba” played in the “Desert Warriors” T-shirt in 6 matches, in which he scored one goal.
