Appointment of Ahmed el-Sheikh as Head of Egyptian Stock Exchange

Introduction

On Thursday, Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli decided to appoint Ahmed el-Sheikh as head of the Egyptian Stock Exchange for a year, replacing Rami el-Dokani, who assumed responsibility for a year on August 25, 2022.

End of Rami El Dokani’s Term

Rami El Dokani’s term as Chairman of the Egyptian Stock Exchange ended on August 24, in addition to Heba El Serafi, Vice President of the Stock Exchange.

Succession of Al-Dokani

Al-Dokani took over as President of the Egyptian Stock Exchange, succeeding Mohamed Farid, who became President of the General Directorate of Financial Supervision by decision of the President of Egypt for a one-year term, which was extended for another year a few days ago.

Accomplishments of Rami El-Dokani

The Egyptian website Cairo 24 claimed that Rami El Dokani was able to restore discipline to the stock exchange in the year he spent on the Egyptian Stock Exchange. Thanks to his leadership, he was able to return the market to active activity and record levels, which Egypt has not achieved in previous years.

Removal of egx50 Index

The Egyptian website states that Rami El-Dokani removed the egx50 index with equal weights due to the lack of feasibility, quality, and expected benefits from it.
