Turkey announced the departure of 8 new grain carriers from Ukraine

Turkey announced today, Wednesday, that 8 cargo ships have set sail from Ukrainian ports under the Istanbul Grain Transportation Agreement.

The Turkish Ministry of Defense said in a statement: “Eight new ships sailed from Ukrainian ports on Wednesday morning as part of the shipment of grain.”

On July 22, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine and the UN signed the “Initiative Document for the Safe Delivery of Grain and Food from Ukrainian Ports” during a meeting in Istanbul.

The agreement, sponsored by Turkey and the UN, provided for the export of grain stuck in Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea (Eastern Europe) to the world.
