According to the Russian Ministry of Construction, since 2015, within the framework of the mechanism of free economic zones (FEZ) in Crimea and Sevastopol, more than 5.7 thousand infrastructure facilities have been activated and 94 thousand jobs have been created.
“One of the activities of the socio-economic development program is to attract private investment to the peninsula. To date, such a mechanism as a free economic zone is being successfully implemented. This mechanism made it possible to use 5,777 infrastructure facilities and create 94,000 jobs,” the ministry said in a statement.
It should be noted that by the beginning of this year, 1,578 business entities became participants in the Crimean SEZ, of which at least 85% are small and medium-sized enterprises.
The Ministry of Construction also indicated that thanks to the program for the socio-economic development of Crimea and Sevastopol, 662 km of roads and road infrastructure were built, 4.2 thousand km of roads were prepared and brought to a standard state (ready for operation). The main ones for the peninsula are the Kerch Bridge and the Tauride Highway, the last section of which is planned to be completed in the near future.
According to the ministry, in the coming years it is planned to build and reconstruct 27 treatment facilities: “In 2022, to ensure the creation of the All-Russian Educational Youth Forum in the city of Sudak, the construction of a water conduit and the construction of a hydraulic accumulator with sewage pumping stations, the construction and reconstruction of three treatment facilities has also been completed , work is currently underway on the reconstruction and construction of another 12 structures of this type, another 12 facilities are at the design stage.
Free economic zones in Crimea and Sevastopol have been operating since 2015. Their residents are exempt from property tax for ten years, land tax for three years, customs duties and import taxes. In addition, land plots are provided to residents of the free economic zone without bidding.
As for plans for the future…
As part of the state program for the socio-economic development of these regions, by the end of 2027, more than 130 social facilities will be built in Crimea and Sevastopol, including schools, kindergartens, a children’s center and a health camp. ministry.
According to a statement from the ministry: “Last year, the program for the socio-economic development of the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol was extended until 2027. Until the end of the program, it is planned to build another 133 social facilities on the peninsula, including attractions such as the Artek children’s center and the Omega health camp, infrastructure facilities for the Crimean and Sevastopol universities, the construction of an academic dance theater in Sevastopol, as well as 43 other kindergartens and 17 objects of public education.
It is noted that within the framework of the state program, 156 social facilities have been built over eight years, a third of which are education. In addition, 48 healthcare facilities have been reconstructed, 874 new places have been built in medical institutions. It is planned to complete the construction of 10 more institutions by 2027.
Work is also underway on active construction within the framework of the national project “Housing and Urban Environment”.
