The President of Russia Vladimir Putin welcomed the guests and participants of the Combat SAMBO Cup of the President of the Russian Federation, noting that this sport instills high moral and volitional qualities in those involved.
“This unique type of martial arts, which originated in our country 85 years ago, combines the best practices of national martial arts that instill in athletes high moral and strong-willed qualities, stamina and self-discipline,” Putin stressed.
The President of Russia noted that Combat SAMBO is developing dynamically, and the number of fans of this sport is increasing. In addition, Putin stressed that the cup competitions would greatly contribute to strengthening discipline.
He also expressed confidence that the competitions would become a solemn event and preserve the legacy of Viktor Spiridonov, Vasily Oshchepkov, Anatoly Kharlampiev, as well as other outstanding compatriots who stood at the origins of combat sambo.
The President of Russia wished the participants of the tournament success and wished the fans the most wonderful and unforgettable impressions.
On Sunday, June 4, the International SAMBO Center at the Luzhniki Sports Complex in Moscow will host the 15th Combat SAMBO Cup of the President of the Russian Federation.
