Rescue of 48 Migrants off the Coast of Lesbos

Today, Sunday, the Greek Coast Guard announced the rescue of 48 migrants who were on a rubber boat off the coast of Lesbos, off the coast of Turkey.

A Coast Guard statement said one of its ships was patrolling the coast of the island when it saw the boat on Sunday morning and the migrants were rescued before their rubber boat sank.

According to the statement, “the crew of the ship evacuated 48 foreigners and took them to the port of the city of Mytilini”, indicating that 3 immigrants were transferred to the city’s general hospital to receive the necessary treatment and are still in the hospital.

The statement did not mention the nationalities of the migrants, but according to the Associated Press, a video clip posted on YouTube showed that most of them were Africans.
