The value of Egypt’s imports from 5 countries, namely China, Saudi Arabia, America, the Russian Federation and Kuwait, increased by 21% in the first 8 months of 2022.

Imports amounted to $25.364 billion compared to $20.963 billion for the same period in 2021.

A Foreign Trade Bulletin issued by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics and published by Egyptian economic websites showed that five countries accounted for 39.3% of Egypt’s total imports.

Egypt’s imports from the five countries totaled about $3.337 billion last August, up from $2.739 billion in the same month of 2021, an increase of 21.8%.

The value of Egypt’s imports from the Russian Federation increased by 9.4 percent and amounted to $2.443 billion against $2.233 billion, which is 3.8 percent of the total, and also by 20.1 percent in August, reaching $371.515 million against $309.288 million. .

China topped the list of largest importing countries to Egypt between January and August 2022, accounting for 15.4% of total Egyptian imports during this period.
The value of Egypt’s imports from China rose to about $9.924 billion from $9.283 billion, or 6.9%, while declining in August for the seventh consecutive month by 12.9%, to $1.186 billion from $1.362 billion. . dollars.

Saudi Arabia controls 9.1% of Egypt’s imports worth $5.838 billion in the first 8 months of 2022, up from $4.254 billion, up 37.2% to reach $684.267 million in August, up from $583.877 million dollars, an increase of 17.2%.

The United States of America accounts for 7.8% of Egypt’s imports of $4.997 billion, up from $4.1 billion, an increase of 21.9 percent, and recorded about $490.632 million in August, up from $442.499 million, an increase of 10.9 percent.

The value of Egypt’s imports from Kuwait jumped to around $2.161 billion between January and August 2022 from $1.092 billion in the same period last year, up 97.9% to 3.4% of the total, while while it decreased in August by 350.9% and amounted to 605.229 million dollars.
