German Defense Minister: We no longer have weapons to send to Ukraine

German Defense Minister Christina Lambrecht said the German army had run out of weapons after sending them to Ukraine, noting that Berlin could no longer supply arms to Kyiv.

“I must admit, as defense minister, that we are reaching the maximum that the German army can offer,” Lambrecht was quoted by Der Spiegel newspaper during a cabinet meeting.

She stressed that the ministry has always put the national interest first, stressing that it “will closely monitor that this situation continues in the future.”

The defense minister expressed optimism about the transfer of Soviet-style weapons from Eastern Europe to Kyiv so that the supplier countries receive Western equipment and weapons.

Earlier, German Foreign Minister Annalina Bierbock said that the German army is facing an absolute shortage of reserves, and for this reason, military assistance to Ukraine is “on the verge of cessation.”
