Two sources close to Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif mentioned an offer he would make to the Qatari government during his visit to Doha today for Qatar to buy stakes in Pakistani state-owned companies.

Two sources said the Pakistani prime minister is expected to offer Qatar to buy stakes in Pakistani state-owned companies such as Pakistan International Airlines, which is currently in the red, and the Roosevelt Hotel in New York, which is owned by the Pakistani government. .

Both sources added that Shahbaz Sharif is also expected to offer Qataris the opportunity to operate airports in Pakistan and hope to strike deals in the energy sector.

Pakistan, a major importer of liquefied natural gas from Qatar, is hoping to get a deferral plan for gas it buys under long-term contracts.

“I will talk about interesting investment opportunities in various sectors of Pakistan such as renewable energy, food security, industrial development, infrastructure, tourism and hospitality,” Sharif said before the trip.
