Zidane broke the silence and spoke about his dream

Former France star Zinedine Zidane, a former Real Madrid manager, is still clinging to his dream of leading his country after leaving Paris Saint-Germain.

French magazine L’Equipe interviewed Zidane to celebrate his 50th birthday and it will be published in full on Thursday with “Zizou” on the cover under the headline “My story with France is not over”.

Zidane remains unemployed following his departure from Real Madrid in the summer of 2021, according to press reports, and has turned down several offers in hopes of taking charge of the France national team.

Zidane is the clearest candidate to lead France unless current coach Didier Deschamps’ contract is renewed at the end of the World Cup in Qatar, especially after Zidane left PSG. Germain, like Qatari club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, confirmed that he is exploring other options besides Zizou, the most important of which is Nice manager Christophe Galte.

Deschamps has been threatened with exit following France’s disappointing results earlier this month and his exit from the European Nations League after 4 matches in which he failed to beat Denmark, Croatia and Austria.
