Andriy Yermak, head of the presidential administration of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, announced Kyiv’s readiness to implement the European Commission’s plan to start negotiations on Ukraine’s full membership in the European Union.
“We are waiting for the green light. Ukraine deserves the status of a candidate for joining the European Union, but our clear goal is full membership in the European Union. We will be ready to start implementing the European Commission’s plan in this regard,” Yarmak said on his Telegram channel.
French President Emmanuel Macron said earlier that the process of Ukraine’s accession to the European Union could take several years or even decades, and in this regard, he called for the creation of a new “European political community” in whose ranks Ukraine could be admitted.
For her part, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that the European Commission recommended granting Moldova and Ukraine the status of EU candidate countries.
