Zelensky proposes to the Verkhovna Rada to extend martial law and mobilization in Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has submitted to parliament a bill on the extension of martial law and mobilization, which he announced with the start of the Russian military operation in his country.

The Verkhovna Rada said in a statement: “The Head of State has submitted to Parliament a bill on approving the decree of the President of Ukraine on ‘extending the period of general mobilization’ and a bill on approving the decree of the President of Ukraine on ‘extension of martial law in Ukraine’.”

Martial law in Ukraine came into force on February 24, and on May 22 the Verkhovna Rada extended it for 90 days, until August 23.
