Veteran Defender Mahmoud Alaa Expelled from Zamalek’s Squad
The technical staff decided to expel veteran Zamalek defender Mahmoud Alaa after a crisis that occurred during the team’s training session on Friday, insulting him and refusing to follow instructions.
Sources said Mahmoud Alaa was punished with exclusion from group training and a heavy fine of EGP 250,000.
Sources told Al Sharq on Friday that the decision was made because the player did not follow the instructions of technical director Juan Carlos Osorio and got into a heated verbal altercation with Medhat Abdel Hadi, the team’s coach.
Abdul Wahed Al Sayed, the club’s director of football, notified the player of the suspension and fine. The Zamalek club has not yet made an official statement regarding the incident and the fine.
Alaa, 32, returned to Zamalek earlier this season after ending his loan spell at Al Ittihad.
