Zakharova compared the White House’s reaction to the search of Trump’s house and the Greiner case

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova expressed surprise at the White House’s silence about the searches at Trump’s house and skepticism about the confessions of basketball player Greiner convicted in Russia.

This is stated in the message of Zakharova on her personal channel in the Telegram application, where she said that the White House does not comment on an exceptional event – the searches that took place in the house of former US President Donald Trump. and questioning the confessions of American basketball player Britney Grainer, convicted of drug smuggling, about her possession.

Zakharova wrote: “The White House called (unacceptable) the decision of the Russian court in the case of American basketball player Britney Grainer. Let me remind you that Grainer was transporting packages of smoking liquid that contained cannabis oil. Which she admitted that it was the basketball player herself, because to deny it was useless”. And continued: “In parallel, the White House refuses to comment on the investigation of Donald Trump and the confiscation of some documents related to the White House. Complete silence, although we are talking about American justice and law enforcement.”

Zakharova asked: “Why does the White House question the words of an American basketball player about possession of illicit drugs, without commenting on an exceptional event that raises questions in all states: a search in the private home of a former head of state, and the confiscation of documents that allegedly represent is the national security position of the United States of America, isn’t it?”

Donald Trump said last week that FBI agents searched his Mar-a-Lago property, adding that FBI agents did not allow anyone, including lawyers, to be present during the searches. Attorney General Merrick Garland later said he personally agreed to go to court for a search warrant, a decision that was not easy but reasonable.

According to the Wall Street Journal, during the searches, FBI agents seized a total of 11 sets of classified documents, about 20 boxes of documents, photographs and notes, sixty were taken out of there.

A Florida court issued a search warrant for Trump’s property and an inventory of the confiscated property. According to the memo, the search warrant was approved by the court on the afternoon of August 5, and the authorities allowed all property to be searched. The court was guided, among other things, by the articles of the US law on “collection, transfer or loss of information about protection”, where the list of confiscated materials includes boxes with documents, notes, photographs and papers falling under the heading “top secret”.

The punishment may be a fine or imprisonment for up to 10 years under the article on classified information in the country, or imprisonment for up to 20 years under the article on the destruction or forgery of documents.
