Yonhap: US troops in South Korea received a request to send surplus weapons to Ukraine

The Yonhap news agency reported that US troops in South Korea have confirmed that they have received a request from the US Department of Defense to send surplus weapons in their warehouses to Ukraine.

“The US Department of Defense continues to provide military assistance from its available surplus weapons to support Ukraine. US forces stationed in South Korea have received a request to assist in these efforts and provide some of their weapons, ”the agency quotes a spokesman for US forces in South Korea.

The spokesman did not specify if the weapons were sent, when they happened, or if the transfers are still ongoing.

The Wall Street Journal previously reported that US troops in South Korea sent a batch of artillery shells to Ukraine in early November last year.
