Xi is embarking on his first overseas trip since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

In China, it was announced that President Xi Jinping will embark on a tour that will land in Kazakhstan and then travel to Uzbekistan to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit as part of his first overseas tour since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Xi Jinping plans to visit Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan from September 14 to 16,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said.

She noted that “Xi will make two visits at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.”

Russian Ambassador to China Andrey Denisov confirmed that President Vladimir Putin will meet with his Chinese counterpart on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Samarkand on September 15-16.
