"wife" American basketball player arrested in Russia is disappointed in Joe Biden

American Cheryl Grenier, the wife of basketball player Britney Grenier detained in Russia, said that she had not yet received any response from US President Joe Biden.

In a handwritten letter delivered to the White House, Britney Grenier pleaded with President John Biden not to forget her cause after several months in a Russian prison.

In his letter to Biden, the football player demanded her release and expressed fear that she would never be able to return home.

And White House press secretary Karen Jean-Pierre said that President Joe Biden read a letter from his compatriot Britney Grenier, a basketball player detained in Russia, without disclosing details.

“It’s so frustrating and literally killing me,” Cheryl Grenier told CBS Mornings. “Every time you ask, ‘Have you met him yet?’, I have to say no.”

Britney Grenier, a player on the Phoenix Mercury women’s basketball team, was detained at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport on February 18 on suspicion of trying to smuggle banned substances into Russia.

E-cigarettes and cannabis oil were found in Grenier’s bags after her baggage was searched with X-ray equipment, according to Russian customs.

Grenier faces a prison term of five to ten years.

Earlier, an American journalist suggested arresting Russian hockey player Alexander Ovechkin, a Washington Capitals player, in the United States in response to Grenier’s arrest.
