White House: US will not send troops to Ukraine

John Kirby, strategic communications coordinator at the US National Security Council, confirmed that the US administration has no intention of sending troops to Ukraine.

Even if the fighting continues there for a longer period, Kirby said during a self-styled briefing to reporters on Thursday. The US administration does not intend to send troops to Ukraine.

Asked how long the fighting in Ukraine could continue, Kirby said, “I don’t think anyone can give a definitive answer.” But he recalled earlier statements by the American side that “the conflict could drag on.”

And Kirby added when asked if the potential for conflict between the United States and Russia would escalate if the war dragged on? “President (Joe Biden) has been very clear that our forces will not be involved in the fighting in Ukraine and what we will do is help Ukraine defend itself,” he said.
