White House: Unveiling fresh military support bundle for Ukraine today

White House Press Secretary Karen Jean-Pierre said Wednesday the US administration is announcing a new military aid package for Ukraine, including artillery ammunition and HIMARS rocket launchers.

“Later today, the Biden-Harris administration will announce a new defense assistance package for Ukraine… The announcement will be made by the State Department and the Department of Defense,” she said at a press conference.

Jean-Pierre explained that the weapons transferred to Ukraine will be provided from the Pentagon warehouses for the thirty-sixth time.

Two days ago, Secretary of the National Security Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov said that Kyiv would launch a counteroffensive when it was ready, adding that it was only a matter of time before the forces reached the required level of combat readiness.

In the same context, US Deputy Secretary of Defense for Political Affairs Colin Cole said that the US provides exceptional support to Kyiv, but their resources are not unlimited.

“It is clear that Congress has given us an extraordinary amount to support the security of Ukraine, but it is not unlimited,” Cole said in an interview with the American magazine Foreign Policy.

Cole noted that in just over a year, the administration of US President Joe Biden allocated more than $35 billion to help Kyiv.
