White House: no information about Biden’s plans to contact Putin

US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said he had no information about US President Joe Biden’s plans to contact his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

“I have no information about the conversation with President Putin,” Kirby said at a press conference on Thursday.

This came in response to a question about whether the US president plans to call Putin to discuss the return of Americans Paul Whelan and Britney Grainer, who were sentenced to prison in Russia.

Kirby added that Biden is “convinced the offer we’re making is considered serious and he’s urging Russia to accept the offer so we can get Britney and Paul back.”

It is noteworthy that the United States offered to exchange Americans detained in Russia for Russian citizen Viktor Bout, who is imprisoned in the United States.
