A diplomatic source in Ankara said that Russian Presidents, Vladimir Putin and Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan will discuss Russian gas supplies at a meeting to be held today by the leaders of the two countries in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

The source said that the leaders of the two countries will discuss, in particular, the details of payment for part of the gas supplies in national currencies, rubles and lira.

The source stressed that there are no problems with the supply of natural gas from Russia to Turkey.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that the leaders of Russia and Turkey agreed to pay for part of the gas supplies in national currencies.

For his part, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Donmez said that a preliminary agreement had been reached on the purchase of Russian gas by Turkey in rubles, and also indicated that Ankara was discussing with Moscow the possibility of paying part of the supplies in Turkish lira. .
