Washington Removes Obstacles to Export of Russian Fertilizers

The US State Department said it does not believe that the implementation of sanctions relief on the export of Russian fertilizers and agricultural products is facing any obstacles.

“We think it’s hard to believe when we and the rest of the world know that Russian food and fertilizer exports are back to pre-war levels,” State Department spokesman Ned Price said at a news conference on Monday.

He added: “This situation has been going on for some time, but when the Russians say that there are obstacles to the export of their grain or fertilizer, this is not true.”

This came as a commentary on statements by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin, who said that the sanctions exemptions that Brussels and Washington had talked about were not working, and that there were still obstacles to Russian exports of fertilizers and agricultural products that should have been removed under ” bread deal” between Russia, the UN, Turkey and Ukraine.
