Washington Rejects Iran’s Claims of Prisoner Exchange

US State Department spokesman Ned Price refuted Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian’s statement that Iran and the US had reached preliminary agreements on a prisoner exchange.

Price called the statement “another particularly cruel lie that only exacerbates the suffering of the families” of U.S. citizens imprisoned in Iran.

Abdullahian announced during the race that the US and Iran had reached a tentative agreement on a prisoner exchange.

Abdollahyan also expressed hope that the first batch of prisoners would be exchanged in the near future.
