White House Press Secretary Karen Jean-Pierre expressed Washington’s concern about the Vostok 2022 maneuvers to be held in the Russian Far East, which will involve China, India and dozens of Russia’s allies.
Asked about New Delhi’s involvement, Jean-Pierre said: “The United States is concerned when any country exercises with Russia.”
She added that the final decision on participation in such events remains with the countries themselves.
Earlier, the American version of the Army Times newspaper wrote that the exercises of the Strategic Command and the military headquarters “Vostok-2022”, which will be held in the Russian Far East from September 1 to 7, are a sign of strengthening relations between Russia and China.
Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin emphasized that the Vostok-2022 exercises are defensive in nature and are not directed against specific countries or military alliances.
