Washington is concerned about its statements "Russian plans" Destabilize Moldova

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken expressed concern about the alleged “Russian plans” to destabilize Moldova.

“We strongly support Moldova in matters related to its security, independence and territorial integrity, as well as in the important efforts to achieve reforms undertaken by the government and the president,” Blinken said at a meeting with Moldovan President Maia Sandu on Friday.

He expressed “deep concern” about “conspiracies on the part of Russia” aimed at “destabilizing power” in the republic.

And he considered that Moldova was waiting for “the perfect storm in terms of external threats.”

A statement released following Blinken’s talks with Sandu indicated that they discussed “efforts to strengthen the sovereignty, territorial integrity and energy security of Moldova.”

Ukraine has accused Russia of “plotting to undermine the democratic system” in Moldova. Moldovan President Maia Sandu said that the country is preparing to “change the constitutional order” with the participation of opposition forces. It stated that the Ukrainian side’s information on the matter was “correct” and that Russia posed a “threat” to the country’s security.
