Washington declares readiness to engage in dialogue with Moscow on the future of arms control

US Special Representative for Nuclear Non-Proliferation Adam Sheinman said that the US is ready to resume dialogue with Russia on the formation of a future arms control regime.

In his speech at the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty Review Conference, Scheinman expressed Washington’s readiness to resume dialogue with Russia on shaping a future arms control regime “if Russia is prepared to act in good faith.”

US President Joe Biden earlier announced his administration’s readiness to “urgently” negotiate with Russia on a strategic arms reduction framework to replace the new START treaty, which expires in 2026.
