Washington: 6 French tourists were on board the ill-fated plane that crashed into Lake Powell

US authorities said that on a light plane that crashed into Lake Powell between the states of Arizona and Utah, in addition to the pilot, there were 6 more French tourists.

Keene County, Utah police officials said witnesses reported seeing the plane take off from Page and then crash into a lake near Face Canyon just before 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

FAA officials said in a statement that the pilot of a single-engine Cessna 207 reported an engine problem before the plane crashed.

The plane was under water at a depth of 37 meters, and Kane County authorities said two people died in the sunken plane.

Divers from the Utah Department of Public Safety attempt to recover the bodies.

The names of the injured or injured have not yet been released.

Authorities said the pilot and witnesses were able to pull four passengers out of the water and lift them onto the boat after the accident.

He added that three passengers with serious injuries were taken to St. George’s Regional Hospital and two people with minor injuries were taken by boat to Antelope Marina before being transferred to Page Hospital.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the accident.
