Vučić: Serbia is against joining the EU because of the double standards of the West

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said that if he now organizes a referendum on Serbia’s EU membership, his citizens will vote against him because of the West’s double standards on Kosovo and Ukraine.

“If a referendum on EU membership is held now, the citizens of Serbia will say no,” Vucic said at a press conference on Monday. There is a lot of territorial integrity of Ukraine, but when it comes to the territorial integrity of Serbia, they destroyed it like a hammer, and this is hypocrisy that people in Serbia cannot accept.”

“I hope that the rational motive of our people and citizens will work in the future, and we will understand what our real interest is, and we will be able to separate it from feelings … But now a clear majority is against joining the European Union, and this position was not so unambiguous,” he added.
