Vice Biden briefly meets with Chinese President and calls for open communication between the US and China

US Vice President Kamala Harris briefly met with Chinese President Xi Jinping during the Asia-Pacific Summit in Bangkok on Saturday, less than a week after the Chinese and US leaders met.

A US official said Harris underlined Biden’s message that “we must keep the lines of communication open to manage competition between our two countries responsibly.”

U.S. President Joe Biden reaffirmed during a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping that the United States and China can manage their differences and prevent competition between them from escalating into conflict, adding that the world expects China and the United States to play an important role in resolving climate change and food security issues.
